Tributes to Plays and Playwrights
This is a series of three-dimensional assemblages. Each piece is inspired by and illuminates a classic, modern or original play. To capture a play’s theme and spirit, the artist uses visual metaphor, text, caricature, archetypal shapes and miniature scenography. A variety of materials are incorporated into the work: paint, paper, wood, glass, metal, plastic, fiber, found objects and crafted objects. Works are 44 inches by 44 inches by 5 inches, with 12 to 15 inserts. Each work takes approximately three months to complete. Most works now reside at the internationally-famous Actors Theatre of Louisville.
